I have been fortunate to have many inspiring women in my life. One of them is my long time friend, Lila. She's a talented cinematographer, fashionista and fun loving adventurer. Oh also, she's beaten AML twice. (That's Leukemia) She reminds me that we are capable of so much more than we imagine and that it is important to try to walk through this life with grace.
Before going into the hospital for the second time, she had been planning a personal journey to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. While getting well she used that goal as motivation and inspiration to get into remission once and for all. Now, that desire to climb a mountain has turned into a quest that reaches across the country and around the globe as she leads a group of friends, doctors, nurses, and survivors to the roof of Africa in 2016.
She's making a documentary of her journey and has set an ambitious goal to raise one million dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as promoting awareness for stem cell donation.
I created the Kilimanjaro Tote Bag to contribute to this cause. All of the proceeds go to LLS. The bag is made of 15 oz artist's canvas and features an original illustration I created of the mountain in Africa. Handles are leather. It's a tough little beauty. Just like Lila.
